One of the next thoughts you have after setting up a session with your photographer is, what are you going to wear? What will my husband or little ones wear? Or for engagement and proposal sessions, how over the top of a dress is too much? (the answer is there is no dress too much for these sessions.) However, don't let the stress of choosing your entire families' wardrobe prevent you from enjoying hiring a photographer. That's why you hired me! Let me take on all the stress of helping guide you though choosing the perfect outfits for your family.
Simplicity is key!! I can't express this enough. Having less is more, well, not less as in less material, but less as in less "busy" or distracting clothing choices. We want you to feel comfortable and confident in your clothing choice. There is nothing worse than paying a photographer to photograph your family for you to only remember not liking your outfit or think back to how uncomfortable you were during the entire session! I want your experience to be as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. I believe it starts with the clothes you step out in.
Now is not the time to try out a new clothing trend. Wear the heels you never got the chance to break in or for your hubby to wear what he wore while washing the car five minutes before you had to leave for our session. If you choose to wear heels, bring a spare of comfortable shoes to walk to our spot. What else can be too distracting for our sessions?
As your photographer, it's my job to remember the small things. I will remind you in person about hair ties, phones, wallets, and keys out of all pockets. However, I won't be in your home to help with outfits, but I will be quick to respond and help you with anything you might have questions about.
In conclusion to all the small tips and details I've listed above, the simpler your clothing choices are with maybe two or three (depending on family size) different colors, the better the photos will come out with no distractions taking away from the beautiful people in front of the camera!
